Just Because You've Had Enough Doesn't Mean You Wanted Too Much

I've been sick this week, holed up in bed, and feeling both restless and contemplative. I thought I would share what I've been reading, listening to, thinking about, since I haven't been doing much else! I really love the two songs posted above. They're both melancholy, but also a little bit sweet, and I suppose that is how I have been feeling as well the past few days- reflective and a little emotional, but not actually sad.

Spring is giving way to summer and I am in a soon-to-be transitory and transitional time in my life again, which I have mixed feelings about. This will sound basic and reductive, but I've been thinking a lot about the past and the future, and how the way we choose to describe, and consequently remember, past events can in turn affect our future actions. So, I suppose I've been feverishly reflecting on the role of language in our perception and experience of reality. I've been reading poems with "past and future" in mind, and I found two that I like for the theme. Here's past:

A little Bit a' Bradshaw

I mentioned before that I don't much take after Carrie Bradshaw. In fact, when we picked Sex and the City characters in high school (girls you know what I'm talking about) everyone decided that I was Charlotte. Ummm, I am SO not a WASP or a prude, not that I am still bitter about it or anything. But while I won't write about sex (is that why I'm Charlotte?), I will write about shoes, so I suppose there is a little Carrie in there somewhere, even if I only like to write about shoes because I am excited that they are vegan AND cute!

So, in honor of Sex and the City II coming out, a movie which I am sure I will love to hate, I am blogging about shoes. Anyone who goes in search of leather-free fashion knows that finding good shoes can be a challenge, which is why I am excited to report that my endless search for cruelty-free kicks seems to have reached a bountiful fork in road, in no small part thanks to a lovely little site called Cow Jones Industrials. Cow Jones is an entirely vegan boutique carrying eco-friendly shoes, handbags, and clothes, with great sales and a lots of really cute, mostly trendy, styles. Below are my favorites from the site so far, the OlsenHaus sandals especially, because they say "Pure Vegan" and "There is Only the Truth" on their insoles, which makes me feel ridiculously pleased with myself.

I also love these platform clogs from Vegan Chic. Ever since I was in Sweden last summer, I have been obsessed with finding cute cruelty-free clogs, and finally the vegan fashion gods have taken mercy upon me!
Now I am set to strut my way through summer with a clear conscience and some credit card debt, but at least I've got one up on Carrie!
